Do Things You Love
As an excuse for why we can’t do the things we love, we often compare our problems to how much better off others are.
We blame our circumstances, relationships, loved ones, and parents for how life is happening to us. We’re grumpy complaining about the things we want to do, how expensive things are getting, and the job market.
But, isn’t it fascinating how seeing others succeed under the same circumstances can completely shift our perception of what’s possible? It even inspires us to change our actions.
In your current present, you’re only making excuses for why you can’t do what you love and every other action not aligning with your needs is a form of procrastination.
From The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, the most common regrets are 1) “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” 2) “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.” 3) “I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.” 4) “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.” 5) “I wish I had let myself be happier”.
None of these regrets are impossible to achieve yet we work so hard not to be happy, to complicate life, and to not be satisfied. These people on their deathbeds regardless of their responsibilities, bills, and circumstances knew that they had the opportunity to live the life they always wanted.
If you are not intentionally hurting anyone you can follow your dreams.
Poof just like that you might not even make it to your deathbed. What are the things you appreciate about your current life and what can you be doing differently that will bring you true fulfillment?
