Don’t Hit Snooze On Your Dreams Again. Wake Up! New Year, Same Old You
You daydream about your goals and how it will feel if you achieve them and in the moment it feels great. You always think about the what if and how nice it would be if you could someday take that trip you’ve always dreamed of.
You know you want to change careers, open a business, become financially free, or travel abroad. You get a dopamine rush when you tell your friends about it, make it a New Year’s resolution, or tell yourself that finally this year is your year to make it happen. But, talking about it is as much action as you’ve ever taken.
It feels as if you accomplished something just by talking about it but like a magic spell suddenly the dopamine goes away and you go back to your regular unhappy life only dreaming about a change year after year. You press snooze. AGAIN!?
Taking the leap is scary and you’ve been conditioned by your environment and your unconscious actions to not do anything outside of “YOUR” comfort zone. It’s what you’ve always known and somehow you’ve made it this far right? And you know your family and friends question you because they want the best for you or because where they are it’s also all they’ve ever known.
You fear the what-ifs, fear of failure or success, and you worry about what your friends and family might think. If this is the case, why does it matter?
Yes, you must appreciate the good things in your life and you do, but you’re still living paycheck to paycheck, or you still need a car to get to work, or you want extra cash in case of a big emergency. You know you need to change!
When you finally take the leap there will be a period where life will turn to shit. Unexpected things will happen that will make you doubt if what you’re doing is worth it. And yes, it is worth it! The lessons learned, the new ideas you gained, your expanded connections, the new experiences, and the new goals from going for what you want are all worth it. None of it is a failure.
It was always a game you wanted to play. The rent, the bills, and people will either be there for you or not. You will figure it out and you always have or else you wouldn’t be here today.
So, you have to keep going! You can not give up. The only real failure is not trying, everything else is a lesson learned.
