You Environment Is A Mirror Of How You See the World
Most of what happens to us is a result of our own doing. Our environment is a mirror of how we see the world. Looking around you, almost everything you have, and where you are results from how you perceive the world.
How you have set up your environment is what you have asked of you and the universe in return.
Look around you at your environment. How you do one thing is how you do everything. Choose one thing and compare it to how you see your world. If your room is disorganized, what else is disorganized?
If you can’t make it work with what you have and get creative and resourceful to get to where you want to be, you won’t be able to keep your hard-earned results. Just like many of the lottery winners who end up worse than before they had won.
But for this, you have to know exactly what it is that you want out of life.
Now make this a 10-year commitment. Heck, you might get there way faster. Yes, 10 years! Even if you’re half-dead (10 years will give you patience but half-dead will give you urgency).
Now, since your environment mirrors your current mindset and perception of the world it’s time to restructure your environment. It’s time to be your own architect. You have to take this one step at a time even if you miss a day. Your focus is not on the result but on the step and knowing that you chose this. You chose to do something that matters to you.
Choose only three things that will take you to the life you desire. For example: Become financially free, become more organized and clean, and get in good physical shape.
You might know that these three things will change every aspect of your life and turn you into the best version of yourself.
Now time to set your environment with clear action steps. Your brain works with both the forest and the trees. You have to create more specific goals that represent your true goal.
True goal to specific goal
Becoming financially free can translate to: “Rain or shine I will set up an automatic transfer and contribute 583 dollars monthly into my Roth IRA”.
The average contribution to a Roth IRA is $7,000. You can start with a lower amount. Something doable to you. You can always increase the amount later but never withdraw your money unless there is a very significant emergency. The important thing is to make it an easy habit. Your creativity and discipline for investing will increase as you learn but stick to one thing first and learn from it.
True goal to specific goal
Becoming more organized and clean can translate to: “Every day for just 10 minutes I’ll clean and get rid of things that take time and energy in my home and bring little to no fulfillment”
Its not about minimalism its about truly enjoying the things around you. Read the book: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: by Marie Kondo. A lot can be done in 10 minutes, especially if it’s done most days. For big clean-up days like washing you can set up a weekly 2-hour clean-up day. It’s important that it’s easy enough to make it a habit. With each day you will start taking better action throughout your days and your environment will change. Yet stick to your 10-minute habit until you know keeping your environment clean and organized has become second nature. You can always restart your habit again if you start to fall back.
True goal to specific goal
Getting in good physical shape can translate to: This is the plan that I followed. “I will do cardio and set up a timer for 15 and I will stop once the timer goes off” or “I will do a set of either 50 push-ups, sit-ups or squads every day”.
With a lot of stress and difficulties going on in my life, at some point, my weight was an unhealthy 114lb for a 5’5” dude. It bothered me not to see results fast and it took me two-plus years to get to a healthy and strong 135lb. However, I only focused on the process and on knowing that working out and staying healthy is a habit I want forever. The results suddenly came and it has been easy now to stay in shape. I started getting hungrier, I started eating healthier, and I’m even sleeping better.
Choose something, adapt but don’t deviate. Accomplishing a goal or even getting close to it will give you more satisfaction and fulfillment compared to always changing your goals and focusing on what others have or don’t have.
See you on the other side my friends 🙂
